Seven people have died in various weather-related incidents in South Bengal, including Kolkata. On May 29th, strong storms and heavy rain wreaked havoc in several districts of South Bengal, including the capital. Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari stated that the state government will provide a compensation of four lakh rupees to each family of the deceased. Life has been severely disrupted in several districts of the state.

Seven people were killed and several others injured in a natural disaster in the state on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for more heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in South Bengal for the next two days.

The official stated that relief and rehabilitation work has been underway at a rapid pace since the disaster. Chief Minister Shubhendu has also directed that areas be identified and security arrangements be made immediately in view of the next disaster season. Giving information at the state secretariat, Chief Minister Shubhendu said that reports of deaths have come from North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, West Medinipur, Purulia, and South 24 Parganas districts.

CM Shubhendu said that to save the big trees in the city and prevent them from falling in the storm, a committee of forest, environment and municipal corporation officials will be formed, which will take advice from experts.
