Bilaspur: Even after bird flu was confirmed in the district, the supply of chicks continues. On Sunday, a large shipment of chicks arrived at Bilaspur station from Delhi. All the chicks have been collected in the station premises. No one has provided any information about where they will be supplied from there. Meanwhile, the district administration has banned the sale of chickens. Despite this, the open supply of chicks has become a matter of concern.
On Sunday, a large consignment of chicks arrived at Bilaspur Railway Station. This consignment had been ordered from Delhi. The chicks were unloaded openly at the station, without any special security arrangements or administrative officials present. The sight of the consignment of chicks caused panic among passengers in the station premises, sparking widespread rumors of bird flu. More than 30,000 chickens and birds have suddenly died due to bird flu at the government poultry farm in Koni, near the city. Since then, Collector Sanjay Agarwal has issued a high alert, ordering a ban on the sale and supply of chickens. Poultry farms in the city and rural areas have been closed. Chickens are not being sold openly anywhere. Meanwhile, the sudden arrival of a large consignment of chicks at the railway station has increased the risk of the spread of the infection.
Bird flu spreads in Takhatpur too
The effects of bird flu infection have now spread beyond the city to rural areas. Chicken deaths were confirmed in the Takhatpur area on Sunday. The poultry farm owner carelessly dumped the dead chickens in a sack in an open area, which dogs were seen eating and tearing apart. The dead chickens are scattered around. The district administration has not taken any action against those who dumped the dead chickens.
Control room for bird flu control, of no use
In response to the bird flu situation in the district, the administration has established a control room. Located in Room No. 25 of the Collectorate Building, this control room will serve as a primary medium for information exchange between citizens and relevant departments. A landline number (07752-251000) has been issued for citizens to contact to report any information, complaints, or concerns related to bird flu. This control room is active 24 hours a day.
