Washington: As of Friday (UTC), US president Donald Trupmp stated that his administration is expected to hear from Iran ‘tonight’ regarding Washington’s proposal aimed at ending the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Interacting with the reporters, Trump “We’ll hear from them supposedly tonight,” when asked whether Washington had received any response from Tehran. We’ll find out soon enough, he added after being pressed on whether he believed Iran was intenionally delaying the process.

His remarks followed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio statement that Washington was anticipating an Iranian response on Friday to the proposal aimed at ending the conflict, while expressing hope that it would be “a serious offer”.

Reports also hint, truce talks in Islamabad are set to resume next week. People familiar in the matter stated mediators were engaged in drafting a one page 14-point MoU intended to establish the framework for a month-long negotiating process aimed at ending the conflict. It further hints, the proposed draft includes ran’s nuclear program, reducing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, and possible arrangements for transferring Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpiles to another country.

Meanwhile, fresh clashes were reported at the Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM, American forces struck two empty Iran-flagged oil flagged allegedly attempting to breach the naval blockade in place by the US by entering Iranian port through Gulf of Oman. In a letter to the UN secretary-general and the Security Council, Iran’s UN envoy, Amir Saeed Irvani, accused the United States of violating the ceasefire amidst fresh attacks.
