Washington: US President Donald Trump is expected to review the new plan put forth by Iran as per reports. Interacting with the reporters on this, he said “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable.”
This response from the US Prez comes following the new 14 pointer plan issued by Iran to end the war. The plan is aimed at ‘ending the war’ on all fronts including Lebanon, local news agency revealed.
The proposal follows the rejection of an earlier nine-point plan sent by the US, which allegedly included a two-month timeline for the ceasefire. Tehran has however rejected the proposal for any interim arrangement and insisted a comprehensive resolution within 30 days.
As per report, the permanent truce proposal includes firm security guarantees that would prohibit any future military aggression against Iran and require the withdrawal of United States forces from its “surrounding environment.” It also calls for lifting of existing naval restrictions and blockades. Additionally, it asked for the release of global Iranian assets and compensation for damages incurred.
Another key highlight focused the economic sector, in which they demanded full removal of all US and international sanctions imposed. It emphasized on ending war on all fronts explicitly including conflicts involving Lebanon. It also suggested to introduce a new governing mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz aimed at ensuring smooth maritime trade.
Iran now awaits an official response, reports revealed.
Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed about the Tehran’s recent diplomatic proposal to the US presented via Pakistan is intended to end the war permanently and bring a resolution to the tension between the two superpowers.
