Iranian media confirmed explosions Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas and Chabahar. It claimed to have initiated retaliatory strikes dubbed as Operation Lightning on Wednesday and into early Thursday morning against the US assets in neighboring nations inlcuding Kuwait and Jordan while alarms kept blaring in Bahrain.

Iran’s air defence systems have been activated over Tehran, with similar reports coming from Pakdasht and Parchin, both near the capital. In east, Semnan, local authorities say parts of the airport were damaged in strikes. However, no casualities or injuries were reported. As per sources, a “side shed” was hit and that part of the windows of the airport building collapsed.Explosions have also been reported in Khorramabad and Khondab, in the central Markazi province.

Neighbouring gulf country Jordan as per reports, intercepted eight Iranian missiles. It stated that that Royal Engineering Corps teams secured debris that fell at several locations and “emphasised that the armed forces continue to monitor the airspace with the highest level of readiness”. Besides, Iran’s army says it targeted the US military’s communications systems, a fixed radar site and fuel depots at Jordan’s Azraq airbase with attack drones. In a statement carried by the Fars news agency, the army said the attack formed the ninth phase of its “Saeqeh” operation and was launched in response to recent attacks on Iran, including a strike on the Bampur barracks in Iranshahr, which the army said killed seven soldiers.

In Kuwait, the IRGC reportedly carried out combined missile and drone attacks on the Ali Al Salem airbase. In a statement, the IRGC said it targeted a C-RAM early-warning radar and a gathering point for US soldiers during the eighth wave of its “Nasr 2” operation. It also accused the US of using the Kuwaiti territory to launch attacks against Iran.

In a separate wave of attacks, the army said drones targeted communication and radar systems, including Super Hawk radars and Patriot installations, used by US forces at the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain.

Days of back-and-forth strikes by the U.S. and Iran across West Asia and renewed threats to the Strait of Hormuz have shredded the interim deal to end the Iran war and could tip the region back into all-out war.
