Irans political landscape witnesses troubles after Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei reportedly issued a “final ultimatum” to its President Masoud Pezeshkian and threw his support behind Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Ahmad Vahidi on key decisions concerning the negotiations and conflict, according to Israeli media report
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Pakistan and Oman. Conversing with the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Monday night, Aragchi discussed current regional events and the trajectory of diplomatic efforts, underscoring the need for continued close cooperation and consultations between Tehran and Islamabad to achieve lasting peace and security across the region.
Mohsen Rezaei, the military adviser to the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, confirmed that Iran scrapped an operation to strike three sites in Ukraine after the country’s government offered an “apology” for a July 25 strike on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea.
Issuing a warning he added that Iran would not allow any maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz outside Iran’s designated route, saying any hostile naval vessel attempting to use an “illegal route” would be hit.
On his social media handle on X, the top Iranian official wrote, “If the blockade continues, American vessels and forces will face serious risks and casualties.”
“The U.S. must change its behavior – or we will not tolerate this. We will never permit the opening of a second corridor in the Strait of Hormuz.”
As per reports by the UK maritime agency, a cargo vessel was struck by an “unknown projectile” in the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman. So far no claims of the attack or any details have surfaced.
As per reports, shipping traffic through the crucial chokepoints of the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb “held largely unchanged”. Amaritime traffic monitor, the agency said 20 ships, including 12 tankers and eight bulk carriers, travelled through the Bab al-Mandeb strait that connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden on Monday, holding flat compared with Sunday.
