Washington: Officials from Lebanon and Israel are set to meet in Washington, DC later on Thursday for a fresh round of peace negotiations as the current ceasefire agreement, due to expire soon, remains technically in effect only for name sake.
Youssef Raggi, Lebanese Foreign minister said,” Beirut’s primary objective in the direct talks with Israel is securing a permanent ceasefire. Speaking after discussions with Italian foreign minister Antonio Tajani, Raggi added Lebanon is pushing for a lasting truce, but added that Tel Aviv “is demanding the prior disarmament of Hezbollah”. Despite ceasefire being extended, the nation reported the strikes remained abated.

Meanwhile, UAE blatantly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim of a “secret visit” during the war with Iran as “baseless”, saying its relationship with Israel “is not based on secrecy or clandestine arrangements”.
The denial came after Netanyahu’s office announced the visit and called the meeting a “historic breakthrough”.
In a major development, the US and China keeping their stance of Hormuz blockade stated that no country should impose shipping tolls in the Strait of Hormuz, signalling rare convergence between Washington and Beijing.
