Marco Rubio, the US Sec currently on a visit to India on Monday, said that while work is in progress to arrive at a peace deal between Tehran and Washington, he assured that Trump will not make a bad deal.

“We thought we might have some news last night, maybe today, I wouldn’t read too much into it,” Rubio said in New Delhi, referring to the potential agreement. He hinted the Strait of Hormuz would open soon.

Rubio told reporters in New Delhi that the U.S. would give diplomacy every chance to ‌succeed before exploring “alternatives”, after President Donald Trump said on Sunday, he had told his representatives not to rush into any Iran deal.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump said he had asked U.S. negotiators “not to rush into a deal” with Iran, amid anticipation and mounting criticism of an agreement to end the war in West Asia.

“The negotiations are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner, and I have informed my representatives not to rush into a deal in that time is on our side,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

As reported by local media on Monday, Iran executed a man identified as Abbas Akbari over ‌charges related to the anti-government protests that took place nationwide ‌in January.

Earlier on Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday said that Tehran is ready to reassure the international community that it is not seeking nuclear weapons. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to diplomacy and regional stability amid ongoing talks with the United States aimed at reaching a comprehensive settlement to the West Asia crisis.

Iranian media confirmed that 33 vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours after receiving authorization from Iranian authorities.
