At least 13 died in the deadly attack launched by Pakistan on Afghanistan on Tuesday following a period of massive calm. Amongst the 13, 11 were children. one woman and one elderly man Afghani authorities claimed. However, attacking nation Pakistan has not yet acknowledged the strikes.

The Afghan authorities said that Pakistani military “violated Afghanistan’s airspace and bombed civilian homes” in the provinces of Kunar, Khost, and Paktika killing 13. Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid taking to X, condemned the action calling it “humanitarian crime and act of aggression.”

The strikes came a day after suspected Pakistani Taliban militants attacked a security post in the Hasan Khel area of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the Afghanistan border. The assault triggered a fierce gunbattle that left six Federal Constabulary personnel dead and several others injured, according to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry. According to security forces, 8 attackers were killed in retaliatory fire.

Since late February Pakistan and Afghanistan have been exchanging fire resulting in hundreds of deaths. China brokered truce was however in place. Afghanistan launched a cross-border attack on Pakistan in retaliation for Pakistani airstrikes inside Afghanistan.

On April 27, Pakistan struck Afghanistan, risking the ceasefire, killing at least seven people and injuring 85. The strikes were carried out at a university and civilian neighborhoods. The Indian neighbor claims Afghanistan harbors militants, particularly the Pakistani Taliban, also called Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP, which carries out attacks inside Pakistan. However, Afghanistan denies the claim.
