The long-running nuclear talks between the United States and Iran have reached a decisive stage. According to media reports, the two countries have reached an agreement on a 60-day interim nuclear agreement (MoU). It is reported that the deal could come into effect after signatures by US President Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. US Vice President and head of the negotiating team, J.D. Vance, has stated that “significant progress” has been made in the talks, although Trump has not yet signed the final agreement.

According to US media reports, under the agreement, Iran has agreed to make the Strait of Hormuz completely safe and unobstructed within 30 days. After this, there will be no restrictions on ships passing through it, nor will there be any additional tolls. This is considered one of the world’s most vital oil trade routes, where escalating tensions have been affecting the global oil market.

According to a report in Saudi Arabia’s Al Hadath newspaper, the agreement will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will implement the key points of the interim agreement. The second phase will involve new meetings to finalize a permanent and comprehensive nuclear agreement. The report also claims that Pakistan could be made the guarantor of this interim agreement. However, official confirmation from Iran has not yet been made. Iranian media agency Mehr, quoting Pakistani sources, said that both sides are “very close to a deal.”
