Raipur: In a sudden spike, as many as 46 fresh cases of Corona virus positive reported in Chhattisgarh, official said. Subsequently, a 92 year old patient died of coronavirus, taking the death toll to 12 in the state.

Among the new cases, 15 are from Rajnandgaon, 11 cases found in Raipur, six from Korba, four from Surajpur, two each from Bemetara, Mungeli and Jashpur and one each from Kabirdham, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa and Balrampur districts of the state, tested COVID-19 positive . While 66 patients were discharged following their recovery on Monday.

A member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the ruling Congress party had tested positive for coronavirus in Chhattisgarh. This is the first case of any prominent personality in the state being infected by the virus even as the overall number is fast surging.

As per the data provided by the state health department, there are 2302 persons tested positive which included 803 active cases and 1487 are said to be recovered from the virus till Monday.  As many as three persons including 92 year old person have died of COVID-19 while eight others were dead due to associated co-morbidity in the last three months.
