On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga in Jhansi, where hundreds of people were practicing yoga at the historic Jhansi Fort Ground.
The Chief Minister was greeted and honored in the locality and was put in front of the audience with a sapling before participating in the mass Yoga session. The event was part of the celebrations of International Day of Yoga, which continues to draw participation from models to millions of Indians and International participants all over the world.
Speaking at the event, Yogi Adityanath had a point to make for PM Narendra Modi, who had elevated yoga to a global community and put the cultural heritage of the country on the international map. He said that the International Day of Yoga is a testament to the soft power of India and its contribution towards global well-being.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives have helped Indians to feel proud of their traditional culture while promoting the dream of a developed India. He also spoke about the amalgamation of yoga from an ancient Indian massage therapy to becoming a global phenomenon promoting physical fitness, mental health and spiritual development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally addresses the Yoga Day events, which are held in various states every year and which have helped in sensitizing people of all age segments towards Yoga, Yogi Adityanath said.
Chief Minister G Kishan Reddy said the historic city of Jhansi was a befitting venue for the occasion, and it was an honour to celebrate it here. He emphasized that yoga is a great instrument that can help everyone adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle, and encouraged people to regularize yoga practice in their daily lives.
The celebrations were a part of International Yoga Day, celebrated across the country to promote the ancient wellness practice of India to the world.
