After a Cabinet meeting, Yogi Adityanath announced the approval of a resolution for the renaming of the Noida International Airport (NIA) as Narendra Modi International Airport by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet members on Friday.

Addressing reporters, Adityanath said that the government of Uttar Pradesh is thankful to the naming of the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and mentioned that the construction of the airport is a huge contribution towards infrastructure and development of the state.

The Council of Ministers of Uttar Pradesh was thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for presenting the Noida International Airport at Jewar. The Cabinet gave its approval to give this airport “Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar” the honor of hosting the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister said.

The airport is expected to become the largest in the Uttar Pradesh and become a hub of aviation in the country, Adityanath added.

The airport is situated at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district and has turned into a huge infrastructure project which will enhance air connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR) and western Uttar Pradesh. It is also expected to be beneficial to the tourism, trade, logistics and the economy of the wider area.

The proposed renaming was approved by the state Cabinet, but any further legal steps that might be needed to effect the name change will decide when it comes into effect officially.

In view of current passenger traffic growth, the airport is anticipated to enhance the capacity in the air transport sector of the region in addition to complementing the capacity of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.

The announcement represents another significant step towards improving aviation connectivity within Uttar Pradesh, solidifying the Jewar airport as a vital contributor to the state’s economic growth.
