In response to the controversy over donation funds and valuables that are mismanaged in the Ram temple at Ayodhya, the Ram temple administration in Ayodhya has implemented a set of new stringent security measures.

The entry into the counting section for donations will now be permitted only in specially designed clothes, without pockets. Anyone handling and counting donations will not be allowed to have any personal items in the donation counting area including a cell phone, wallet, purse or cell phone case.

There are also increased surveillance mechanisms in place at Ram Temple. The numbers of CCTVs have been reported to be being increased and that the entire donation counting operation is being closely watched to ensure no irregularities.

The shift is in connection with the current investigation into alleged embezzlement of donations made to the temple. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has just submitted its preliminary work product report, alleging failures to supervise and monitor procedures for handling donations.

The new regulations are meant to promote transparency and protect devotees’ rans appear to be welcomed by the government, but there is debate regarding the measure among a small circle of the public. Critics say that although the spotlight is being zeroed in on those suspected of taking part in the alleged financial irregularities, that isn’t the only thing that should be done.

Temple authorities say the steps are essential to regaining public trust and make sure all money collected at the Ram Temple goes to the temple in a transparent and secure manner.
