Music composer AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen suffered minor injuries after a Porsche he was driving crashed into a Rapido Wagon-R in Guindy of Chennai early on Monday morning.
The crash occurred about 3:30 am Aug. 10, near the Olympia Tech Park signal. Police said Ameen was driving his Porsche along the main road and at that moment the Wagon-R got into the main road from a side road, causing the vehicles to crash.
Ameen was rushed to Kauvery Hospital following the crash and his friend sustained major injuries. They both were later sent home upon evaluation by doctors.
One passenger who was in the Wagon-R was also injured in the collision. The patient has been treated at Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital and thus he was released after settling treatment there.
The officers of the Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing have taken the case and detained both the vehicles that were involved in the accident.
Police investigating the crash are looking into the circumstances of the collision, including how the Wagon-R got on the main road and the events that preceded the crash.
There have been no serious injuries reported for those involved in the accident. An investigation is continuing to confirm the exact cause of the crash and if traffic laws were broken which contributed to this crash.
While A.R. Ameen has been linked with music and film projects, the accident happened in the early hours of the morning when the traffic volume on the road was light. The investigation continues as authorities collect information and traffic reports and inspect the vehicles.
