Due to the Kanwar Yatra and a lot of movement of Kanwariyas in the Ghaziabad district, the Ghaziabad administration has decided to shut all the schools and colleges here from August 4 to August 12.
On Monday, the official order was issued by District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) BP Singh and the notice was sent to and published in all educational institutions, including CBSE, ICSE and other boards affiliated schools, degree colleges, universities and engineering colleges that they will not open their doors in the period that it is given.
The administration has taken this decision to maintain the security of students and teachers as thousands of Kanwariyas are likely to be seen during annual pilgrimage in major routes of Ghaziabad.
But those institutions that started exams in the course of closure have been given permission to operate only to conduct examinations. Schools have also been encouraged to carry on with academic activities in the online environment when necessary to ensure education from the school, is not disrupted as much as possible.
The move has been decided following the traffic of Kanwariyas on various routes in the district, DIOS BP Singh said.
The announcement follows after the Ghaziabad Traffic Police had introduced a traffic diversion programme on 29th July and will continue till August 12 for smooth travel of the Kanwar pilgrims.
Lakhs of devotees flock to the Kanwar Yatra every year across Uttar Pradesh, leading to the state taking traffic measures such as barring traffic on roads, and even temporary closing of educational institutions in multiple districts, to guarantee public safety as well as smooth traffic.
