Bijnor: In Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department team has seized a huge consignment of worm-infested meat during checking. The team seized 3800 kg of worm-infested and rotten buffalo meat in three vehicles. This meat was being supplied from a factory in Kairana to Bijnor.
The team of Food Safety and Drug Administration Department was checking at the Barrage Chowki on Friday. During this, the team caught four vehicles carrying meat coming from Shamli and Meerut. Meat was coming from Meem Agro Food Private Limited Kairana Shamli in three vehicles.
According to the investigating officer, Nadir Ali, 1500 kg of meat was recovered from the car of Mohammad Shakeel, a resident of Jabtaganj, Najibabad, 1800 kg of meat was recovered from the car of Mohammad Sahil, a resident of Mangalkheda village, Seohara, and 500 kg of meat was recovered from the car of Waseem Ahmed, a resident of Jabtaganj.
Apart from this, there were flies and insects in the meat. The meat was destroyed in the presence of SHO Kiratpur, Nayab Tehsildar, Lekhpal. The license of the vehicle of Waseem son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Mohalla Pahadi Darwaza, Dhampur was found. Also, the arrangement of keeping meat in the vehicle was found to be fine. That vehicle was sent back without any action.
