After a brilliant evening of bat up display with a fantastic offensive from both Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, the Indian batsman had set a target of 224 runs to beat West Indies. This was an outstanding half century on a modest 18 balls by Abhishek Sharma to create early pressure before West Indies mounted a counter-attack with frequent wickets.
The Indian side had to field a tough side in the initial stages as the Indian batsmen came forth with a lot of vigor. West Indies, though, were able to start their bowling by capitalising on a few easy catches and a blunder of the enormous magnitude by the Indian foursome. In stopping their recovery, they denied India a higher total of the series.
India had been set a target of 224 though despite the fluctuations West Indies were left with a tough chase. Shooting facilities might make it easier for them to bat with a chance of dew in the second innings putting the fight back up the plate and the visitors having another shot at the 200-plus challenge they did so well in the first.
Mayank Drops Hetmyer Early
West Indies were denied a quick chance off but were given a venue when Mayank looked for a shot at Shimron Hetmyer and his shot came back. Mayank bowled around the wicket and moved to a lesser angle bowling a short ball that Hetmyer edged towards short thirdman.
Abhishek Sharma was at the position but was unable to retain the ball and Hetmyer slipped before he made contact with the ball.
West Indies were 16/1 at the end of 3 overs and had to establish a big stand to reach the 224.
West Indies Face a Testing Chase
West Indies had to stay the aggressive path without playing to lose runs too hastily at that juncture, as the remaining 17 overs had 208 runs left to score. The expected dew may affect the match especially for the bowlers of the Indian side as they may find it hard to grip the ball.
India, on the other hand, will try to capitalize on their initial breakthrough and find other opportunities to exert pressure on the chasing side.
