Panic gripped Mumbai on Friday after two separate fire incidents were reported in the city within hours of each other.

The latest  blaze broke out in Building No. 2 of an SRA residential complex in Andheri West, near Noor Masjid and Khuja Jamaat Khana, close to Delhi United Society. Thick smoke engulfed parts of the building, trapping several residents inside. According to preliminary reports, some occupants jumped from the third and fourth floors to escape the flames before rescue teams reached the spot. Fire brigade personnel launched a massive evacuation operation and safely rescued several people. No casualties have been reported, and the fire was later brought under control.

In another incident, 11 people were injured after a fire broke out in the common electric meter cabin of a six-storey residential building at Gumati Vaishali Chawl in Jogeshwari West around 5:59 am. The fire was confined to the electrical wiring and installations inside the ground-floor meter cabin and was extinguished within 20 minutes, preventing it from spreading.

Hospital officials said the injured included seven men and four women. Two people with burn injuries were shifted to Cooper Hospital for specialised treatment, while the remaining nine were admitted to Trauma Care Hospital. The exact cause of both fires is yet to be ascertained, and investigations are underway.
