Sri Ganganagar: In a significant electoral triumph, Congress emerged victorious in the Shrikaranpur seat of Sri Ganganagar district. Rupinder Singh Kunnar, the Congress candidate from Shrikaranpur, defeated BJP contender Surendrapal Titi by a margin of 11,261 votes. Notably, Titi, who had previously served as a minister in the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government, faced defeat despite his political experience. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his satisfaction with the Congress win in the Shrikaranpur seat, foreseeing positive implications for the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Gehlot highlighted that the victory demonstrated the enduring strength of the Congress, emphasizing that despite being in power, their influence had not diminished.

Taking a subtle dig at the newly elected BJP government in Rajasthan, Gehlot remarked that the governance style of the BJP since coming to power in the state had not been commendable. He pointed out that the defeat on the Shrikaranpur seat, despite the BJP’s resounding success in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections, served as a significant setback for the ruling party.

Gehlot’s optimism about the electoral gains for Congress in the Lok Sabha elections stems from the perceived public understanding that the Congress remains a formidable force, even in the face of a BJP government. The former Chief Minister hinted at a continued strong presence of Congress in the political landscape, asserting that the electorate recognizes the enduring impact of the party’s policies.

As the Congress party celebrates its victory in Shrikaranpur, Gehlot’s strategic assessment hints at a broader political strategy. The outcome in Shrikaranpur may serve as a barometer for the party’s potential resurgence and impact on the national political stage, setting the stage for a dynamic and closely watched political landscape in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
