Mohali: A woman who worked with a private establishment here, however, was stabbed to death inside her working place by another employee who was suspected to be her ex-husband, after an argument related to the former relationship. The accused, named as Harvinder Mann alias “Harry” made two suicide attempts by stabbing himself on the throat a number of times. The shocking incident has left the region in shock and they have had police investigate it as part of their investigation.
Preliminary results show that the attack took place on Thursday evening when Harry went to the office, and allegedly assaulted the woman, Dimple, while she was at work at her desk. After grabbing her by the throat, he lunar kicked her and then started attacking her again as she tried to flee, investigators say. The man is allegedly seen running towards the woman in the video, grabbing her hair and hitting her repeatedly with multiple stabs, while several other workers try to intervene.
The attack victim was likely stabbed over 20 times, police said. The accused then made his way to a right corner of the office, and was allegedly starting to hit himself in the throat with the knife in a futile attempt to put himself out of his misery. Both were taken in an emergency to the local hospital, in which Dimple was pronounced dead. The man accused of killing a woman was in critical condition medically.
The two were thought to have been dating each other for around three year and were believed to have split up years ago, authorities said. Investigators are looking into why the incident occurred and if it was caused by personal disputes between the couple and/or an effort to revive their relationship, which they’ve now ended.
Police are engaged in a detailed investigation, looking at both CCTV images and witness statements to these stabs, to determine the full story.
