Bathinda: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s thanksgiving yatra, which was being taken out after the enactment of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act, reached Bathinda on Thursday. The yatra was met with great enthusiasm, and the Chief Minister drew sharp reactions from the BJP during his visit. A large number of Sikh groups and members of the public welcomed the Chief Minister. Flowers were showered at various places, and supporters were quite enthusiastic.
“Heartfelt thanks to the entire sangat for the boundless love and blessings received during the ‘Shukrana Yatra’ in Sardulgarh. By the grace of the Almighty, a major service has been achieved in enacting stringent laws to prevent sacrilege. Now, anyone found guilty of tampering with Guru Maharaj’s sanctity will face life imprisonment and a fine ranging from 10 to 50 lakh rupees”. wrote CM Mann on X.
He stated that his government will always work to protect Punjab, Punjabis, and Punjabiat. Protecting people’s faith and religious sentiments is the government’s priority. This law has been enacted to ensure strict action against future incidents of sacrilege. The Chief Minister strongly criticized some political parties, saying they are working to divide society by promoting communalism. Punjab has always been a land of brotherhood, peace, and harmony, and its people need to be vigilant against forces that practice divisive politics.
The Chief Minister said that in some states of the country, communal tensions are being fostered to create distance between people. Citing the example of West Bengal, he said that the situation there has worsened since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power. Although he did not name any leaders, his statement is being interpreted as a political attack.
