The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ event will be held on August 25 in Jalgaon in Maharashtra; Narendra Modi is going to attend this event with the furthering visit to Jodhpur in the Rajasthan state for the valedictory function of the Rajasthan High Court’s platinum jubilee year festival on the same day.
During the function in Jalgaon, PM Modi will present certificates and distribute cheques to 11 lakh new ‘Lakhpati Didis’ for achieving great economic feats under the self-help group (SHG) schemes in the third term of the BJP-led NDA government. In the event, the interaction has also been proposed to be between the PM and ‘Lakhpati Didis’ of different states of India.
During this visit, PM Modi will also provide and launch a revolving fund of ₹2,500 crore, which would benefit around 48 lakh members across 4.3 lakh SHGs. Besides, he will also release bank loans of ₹5000 crore for 25 to cater to the housing requirements. More than 8 lakh members of 2.35 lakh SHGs. These efforts fall under the larger government policy to emancipate women and facilitate women’s leadership – a topic that has now received attention at multilateral forums such as the G20, in which India is now a member.
The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, which was made public by PM Modi in his Independence Day speech last year, is about imparting skill development training to 20 million rural women in India. Some of the skills taught under the scheme are plumbing, making LED bulbs, and operation and repair of drones, among others. It has already empowered one crore women as ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and the long-term vision of changing three crore women’s lives.
In the second half of the day, at 4:30 PM, PM Modi will be the guest of honor in the platinum jubilee celebration of the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur. He will also launch the Rajasthan High Court Museum thus bringing to an end the prestigious occasion.
