Dindori: A mishap occurred in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, where Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Santosh Singh succumbed to injuries sustained during duty. He was critically injured and died during treatment at Jabalpur. The news has caused pain and sorrow in the police department.
The mishap took place on Sunday evening in Gadasarai town when a strong wind and torrential rain caused havoc in the area. The severity of the storm occasioned several trees to be uprooted and to fall. Thus, traffic on the Dindori Amarkantak road was disrupted for several hours after a four-wheeler vehicle was stuck in between the fallen trees. Thus, to remove the traffic jam, the police force of Gadasarai was very actively engaged.
ASI Santosh Singh, who was on duty at that time, was also busy manually removing trees from the road to clear the traffic jam. However, during this operation, a part of a tree directly fell on his head. The resulting collision resulted in heavy bleeding from his head. Some of his fellow police officers quickly transferred him to the Dindori District Hospital for initial treatment.
Due to the seriousness of his injuries, ASI Singh was provided with preliminary medical aid and later on was referred to Jabalpur for advanced treatment. Even with this move, ASI Santosh Singh succumbed to injuries at the hospital. His death has become bad news that has brought gloom to the entire police department in Dindori.
Santosh Singh from ASI has been working in Gadasarai of the Dindori district since 2021. He had come from the Chachai police station area under the Anuppur district. He passed on due to a heart attack that has sent his colleagues and the local community into deep mourning.
