The BCCI has announced India’s squad for the upcoming ODI against West Indies in Trivananthapuram on September 27.
Rishabh Pant missed the bus for the white-ball series and was sent to the ROI squad. His indifferent IPL form saw him lose Test vice-captaincy and also a place in the white-ball sides.He will lead the Rest of India side in the Irani Cup against Ranji Trophy champions Jammu & Kashmir. Ravindra Jadeja has been recalled to the ODI side, adding experience to the squad as India deal with the absence of several players involved in the Asian Games.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retained their places with KL Rahul named Shubman Gill’s deputy. Rookie Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir and Jammu and Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi have earned maiden call-ups, while Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant have been left out for different reasons.
Gill will continue as captain for the series, which begins in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27. The second ODI will be played in Guwahati on September 30, with the third in New Chandigarh on October 3. Rohit’s selection comes after weeks of discussion around his ODI future. The former India captain remains part of the side alongside Gill and Kohli after scoring a century in the third ODI against England at Lord’s in July.
Hardik has not been selected despite being scheduled to return to competitive cricket later this month. He has been picked for India A’s three-match one-day series against Australia A in Puducherry, beginning October 6.
Naman Dhir has been included as an all-round option and will make his maiden appearance in India’s senior ODI squad. His performances in domestic cricket for Punjab and in the IPL for Mumbai Indians have earned him a call-up.Auqib Nabi has also received his first call-up to India’s senior ODI side. The Jammu and Kashmir seamer has been rewarded for his performances for Surrey in the English county circuit and adds another pace option to the squad.

Akash Deep’s retention in the ROI depends on his fitness clearance, as said by selectors.
India is set to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is against West Indies in September and October.
The T20Is squad will be pulled in directly from the Asian Games squad, with the matches starting from October 6th.
