Jan Vishwas Abhiyan, the state’s campaign for addressing grievances from the people and better implementation of government welfare initiatives, has been announced by the Madhya Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
The campaign will kick off on August 7 and run on Fridays statewide.
As part of the drive, the ministers, public representatives and administrative officials will meet citizens and villages and urban wards on a first-person-to-person basis, listen to their grievances, and discuss the implementation of various government schemes on the ground. The goal is to build trust in the public through closer governance of the citizens, while at the same time enhancing transparency and accountability of the administration.
This was decided at a meeting of the state Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The new regime involves regular large-scale meetings every Friday at the ministry, divisional and district level no longer. Officials, however, will be out in the field directly interacting with the public for the day instead.
Officials will try to address complaints on the spot where possible, the government said. Remaining cases will be engaged from the timeline to get solved within a stipulated period of time.
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh termed the campaign as a “big leap” in the realm of good governance, saying that Ministers will kick it off from their respective constituencies.
The state government further added that if any corrupt, negligent and administrative irregularities are detected in the campaign, it would invite harsh action against the concerned officials.
The campaign will be based on the principle of dialogue and solution, sensitivity and simplicity, and will not need any extra budget or any unnecessary spending.
