Madhya Pradesh: Indore Police launch massive anti-drug campaign, 3,000 join ‘I Am Smile’ drive

The Indore Police vowed to work hard to combat drug misuse after the second stage of a countrywide awareness campaign to create a drug-free society started in the city recently. This is not an ordinary law enforcement deployment; the goal of the campaign is to drug-snare the public and let them know the dangers of narcotics and the choice for a healthier lifestyle.

The second phase of the campaign has started on 15th July, including a strong public commitment to the campaign through the city. Police officials say that almost 3,000 people have directly participated in the awareness programmes, rallies and public outreach activities conducted under the initiative.

The campaign has gathered them from all circles of society including women, youth, social groups, representatives of institutions etc. The participants were brought together with a shared objective of disseminating a universal message – reject drugs, opt for life and refuse addiction.

The messages shared with the public on this occasion during the awareness events were from MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and DGP. The campaign emphasised how drug abuse impairs an individual’s health and how it also harms productivity, family and the entire society in general.

Indore Police encouraged the public, particularly youths, to avoid use and popularization of drugs to make Indore a healthy and safe city. It is believed that the more people are involved, the stronger the fight against substance abuse.

Commissioner of Police Santosh Kumar Singh said that the campaign has invited a cheering response from the public. He said Indore police will roll out the campaign in other areas of the city in the next few days to raise awareness and to stop more youth spiralling into addiction to drugs.
