Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed optimism that the BJP will easily defeat the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly by-election in Datia amid a sharp attack against the Congress for its political relevance and condition.
The Chief Minister addressed the gathering of the media and asserted that Congress was losing support among people over the years and would get a similar setback in Datia bypolls. The party is languishing in a swath of the nation and is mulling its next steps, he said.
Taking aim at the opposition, Yadav alleged that Congress has failed to focus on development and has instead relied on divisive politics based on religion. He said that such politics has separated the party from the people and affected the party’s results in the elections.
The Chief Minister stressed on BJP’s governance track record, stating that it has become the world’s largest political organisation and having consistently brought development to the states like Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat in the last 20 years.
The BJP government is still working towards faster development of infrastructure, welfare events and economic growth in Madhya Pradesh, Yadav said. He told that he was confident that the residents of Datia will vote on development and continuity and not for Congress.
It appears the Datia by-election will see an all-out assault from both BJP and Congress, with the former uniting with the highly vocal, pro-Congress, local youth brigade to challenge the Congress. But, Yadav pointed out that the BJP has strong mass acceptance and termed the elections results a testament of people’s faith in the development agenda of the party.
