Teachers from across Madhya Pradesh have been staging an indefinite protest since August 21 at Neelam Park, demanding an increase in the posts for both secondary and primary teacher recruitments in 2025. They have also demanded a second round of counselling, anything that the government advertised for posts, despite the availability of several.
Student teachers representative Narendra Rajbhar, resident of Biaora, has gone on an indefinite hunger strike demanding addition of more teacher posts. He has been fasting since the beginning of the protest on August 21.
Several women candidates have joined the protest with their children.
In a separate event, the School Bachao Sangharsh Samiti organised a state-level convention against the closure of government schools. Students, teachers and parents from different districts attended the event, demanding that the government improve infrastructure and appoint more teachers instead of shutting schools.
