Shahdol: In a shocking chain of events from Shahdol district in Madhya Pradesh, police officers’ homes are now the prey for fearless thieves. Security and law enforcement in the region have raised concerns in the latest incidents. A day after the theft of the government residency of DSP Yogendra Singh, a theft of the official residence of Traffic Inspector Shivendra Bhagat occurred.
The first incident happened at the official residence of DSP Yogendra Singh in the Special Branch of Shahdol. The thieves were away in Rewa as this happened, and he was not around. On his return, he realised that the window was broken and that valuable items (including a laptop and wristwatch) were missing. According to a complaint by the domestic help, a case was registered at Kotwali police station.
However, another similar theft occurred before the police were able to advance any case. Traffic Inspector Shivendra Bhagat’s government residence inside the police lines of Shahdol was broken into by thieves. He took from Rewa just as he had left the house locked. Seemingly, the criminals also knew the key to the doctor’s study was left under the table by the inspector. On return, the house was found ransacked and a third complaint was also made with Kotwali police.
It is certainly a blot in the security arrangements in Shahdol as these back-to-back thefts have taken place at the homes of high-ranking police officials. Baffling is how such bold thefts are coming off, as either locals or officials and worst, they take place even against the police force itself.
Confirmed both incidents by additional SP of Shahdol, Abhishek Diwan and assured dedicated investigations are underway into the hands of the culprits involved in these daring crimes.
