Noida: A significant blaze erupted in a secured second-floor flat in Greater Noida’s Gaur City, 16th Avenue, on Thursday morning, as confirmed by local authorities. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Pramod Kumar, the outpost in-charge of Gaur City 2 at Bisrakh police station, revealed, “At 9:40 am, a major fire broke out in the locked second-floor flat of a highrise in 16th Avenue, Bisrakh.”
Upon receiving alerts from residents, three fire tenders promptly rushed to the scene, battling the flames for nearly two hours before successfully extinguishing them around 11 am, according to SI Kumar.
Initial investigations unveiled that the flat’s owner, Rahul Pandit, was away on a trip to Jammu and Kashmir when the fire erupted. The locked flat fueled suspicions of a potential short circuit, but a thorough investigation is underway to determine the precise cause.
“Pandit’s flat suffered extensive damage, and he has been notified. The rapid spread of the fire also resulted in the burning of the third-floor mat and other household items,” added SI Kumar.
Although the high-rise’s firefighting system responded, the intensity of the flames necessitated the deployment of fire tenders.
Videos capturing the inferno circulated on various social media platforms, showcasing the magnitude of the incident.
Gautam Budh Nagar’s chief fire officer reported that Pandit had vacated the flat on Wednesday, and with assistance from the maintenance team, the lock was broken to gain access and control the fire.
This incident follows a similar occurrence on February 26, when a fire broke out on the fourth floor of another highrise building in Greater Noida’s Gaur City 2. Authorities continue to emphasize fire safety measures and investigations to prevent such incidents in the future.
