The Delhi government is going to take a big step to stop the increasing incidents of fire in the capital. After the recent Vivek Vihar fire, the government has taken a tough stand and decided to prepare a firefighting master plan. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed the concerned departments to prepare a detailed blueprint related to fire incidents and present it to her within the next 10 days. This report has been asked to include the main causes of fire, high-risk areas, shortcomings in the existing security arrangements and concrete preventive measures.

The Chief Minister stated that strengthening fire safety systems is crucial, as is raising public awareness. A high-level review meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday regarding this issue. Ashish Sood, Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, and senior officials from the Fire Department, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, DDMA, Electricity Department, and other relevant agencies were present.

The meeting discussed in detail the current fire situation in the capital, key challenges, and sustainable solutions. Officials also presented on issues related to sensitive areas, illegal construction, power overload, and compliance with fire safety regulations. The Chief Minister directed all departments to work in coordination and prepare a firefighting master plan as soon as possible.
