Khairagarh: With the Khairgarh assembly elections underway, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti, representing the saffron party is scheduled to visit CG. Landing at the Raipur airport at 7:45 pm, Patel during his two-day visit would begin his by-poll procession on April 6th.
As per his travel itinerary, on April 6th, Patel would attend a program in Bhilai organized by the party at 11 am following which he would hold a public relations meeting at 1 pm in Pipariya of Khairagarh division. Around 4 pm, he will address a public gathering in Udaipur, Chuikhadan division.
On the 7th of April, another public address would be held at Jalbandha in Khairagarh rural Mandal at 11 am. A second public relations meeting with the Bhoramourkala would be organized subsequently. The last meeting would conclude at Jalbandha of Khairagarh Rural Mandal following which he would return to Raipur and depart to Delhi on 8th April.
The Khairagarh constituency seat fell vacant after the death of Janata Congress legislator Devwrat Singh, a member of the Khairagarh royal family, who suffered a heart attack on November 4 last year and died at the age of 52. n December 2017, he quit the Congress and next year joined former chief minister Late Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J). Singh contested the last assembly election (2018) on a JCC (J) ticket and became MLA for the fourth time from Khairagarh.
With a triangular contest being observed parties have been placing their trump cards on the front. The BJP named Komal Janghel, the national working committee member of the party’s OBC Morcha as a party candidate for the Khairagarh Assembly by-poll while the Baghel led side named Yashodam Verma, the party’s Khairagarh block committee chief.
