Bilaspur: The shaky incident of an alleged tantric ritual at a cremation ground in Niratu village under the Koni police station area in Chhattisgarh has shocked many. After police catch them practising the tantric rituals at night, 12 persons are arrested. All of them, apart from the four women, are reportedly from outside Chhattisgarh.

According to initial reports, the group had resorted to a supernatural belief by performing rituals using lemons, chillies, vermillion (Sindoor) and a crowbar (an instrument used for black magic in Indians). It was said that this ritual was done in order to help a young woman’s health condition.

The police were alerted after local residents noticed suspicious activity at the cremation site. When authorities to that location, they found the group very involved in the ritual. But the scene was concerning because of the unusual circumstances and objects used.

During preliminary investigation, it indicates that the group believed in traditional or occult healing methods, and they believed that this ritual is the last hope of saving the girl’s life. Twelve people have been arrested by the police, who have now taken them into custody for questioning to determine whether or not the ritual offended any laws and what its nature and intent were exactly.

Authorities are also determining whether the accused have been involved in past such practices and have accurate identities. Locals have been curious and worried about the case as superstitions and the practice of black magic still very much exist in some parts of India even today. The police have stated that there would be a thorough investigation into the case and will take appropriate legal action as per the finding.
