The scheduled meeting between Iran and regional countries has been postponed, Oman Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi said in a post on X.
Al-Busaidi said a planned meeting between Iran and Arab countries was postponed in the “interest of consensus”. The meeting was scheduled to take place on Monday in Oman’s southern city of Salalah, where some regional countries were expected to be briefed on talks between Iran and Oman regarding arrangements for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
“We remain committed to fostering dialogue that supports stability and lasting cooperation in our region,” Al-Busaidi said.
Echoing his Omani counterpart, Iranian Foreign Ministry official Esmaeil Baghaei said the postponement of the planned meeting in Oman was made at the request of certain regional countries and through a joint decision by Tehran and Muscat.
Meanwhile, South Korea and the United States plan to hold senior-level defence talks this week, South Korean media reported, citing a statement from the country’s Defence Ministry.
According to the report, the two sides are expected to discuss the possibility of South Korean military deployment to the Strait of Hormuz amid US pressure on Seoul to join efforts to secure the crucial waterway. South Korea had previously sent a team to the UAE to assess the situation near the strait, the agency reported.
Yahya Saree, military spokesman for the Ansar Allah Houthi armed forces, said fighting against Saudi-backed forces would continue until the siege was lifted on areas in Yemen controlled by the Houthis.
He added that a large-scale military operation had been carried out against King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait using dozens of ballistic missiles and drones.
According to Saree, the operation targeted aircraft hangars, radar systems, runways and ammunition depots at King Khalid Air Base. He claimed the attack achieved direct hits and caused significant damage to the base.
Saree said the operation was carried out in response to more than 300 Saudi airstrikes on Yemeni governorates over the past five days.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denied US claims of nuclear activities at Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain site, calling the allegations baseless.
“It cannot be claimed there are nuclear facilities within the Pickaxe Mountain,” Baghaei said.
Addressing a news conference, Baghaei said the United States and Israel had committed war crimes by bombing Iran and killing civilians since the start of the war in February. He listed several Iranians killed in air attacks, including children on a football pitch.
Baghaei also accused the “American-Zionist enemy” of deploying cluster munitions during the attacks, calling it a violation of humanitarian standards and human values.
He described reports about the alleged nuclear activities as “part and parcel of the media and psychological warfare” being waged by Washington.
