Haiwaan opened on its first Sunday in a collection that was 26% less than the day before, with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan as the film’s stars.

The Priyadarshan could gross around Rs 1.85 crore nett on the third day, making the three-day domestic nett rational to be around Rs 7.35 crore, according to Sacnilk.

It was released in 4,374 theatres in India on Sunday, with the overall occupancy around 14%. During the day the Hindi 2D version had 17.13%.

Morning showings recorded a 6.15% occupancy rate, and afternoon showings had an occupancy rate of 19.77%. Evening shows performed better at 22.92%, followed by 19.69% occupancy during night screenings.

There were gains reported by Haiwaan from the foreign markets too. The movie amassed more than Rs 75 lakh on day three in its overseas stint, with a total gross of Rs 2.75 crore. It has grossed Rs 8.80 crore so far in India.

This is the first film that brings together actor Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan on screen after 17 years. The two have also appeared together in movies such as Tashan.

With the reuniting of the two celebrities and the taming of the director-actor duo, Haiwaan has been getting some buzz as directed by Priyadarshan. How it fares during the weekdays over the next week will help to decide if it can extend momentum from its opening weekend.
