Balod: The Congress Party’s National Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi, addressed an election rally in the Jungera village of the Balod Legislative Assembly in Chhattisgarh. During her speech, she launched a scathing attack on the Modi government, alleging that the Prime Minister lacked funds for the welfare of the poor, thus depriving them of their rights.

Priyanka Gandhi emphasized the importance of voting, stressing that it is the means through which the future is shaped and asserting that those who work for your benefit should receive your vote. She declared that if the Congress came to power, they had decided to procure 20 quintals of rice per acre and increase the price of rice to ₹3,200. Furthermore, she promised to waive the loans of farmers, upgrade all government schools to model schools, provide 200 units of free electricity, subsidize LPG cylinders by ₹500, and establish 700 industrial parks.

Gandhi also pledged to conduct a caste-based census. She highlighted the fact that Chhattisgarh currently offers ₹2,400 per quintal for rice, and accused the BJP of claiming they don’t have funds for the welfare of farmers while taxing the citizens. She argued that taxpayer money was being misused for beautification projects. She cited the example of Chhattisgarh, where, upon the Congress’s government’s election, a decision to grant farmer loan waivers was taken within 24 hours.

Priyanka Gandhi concluded by stating that the BJP doesn’t consider the middle class and mentioned that pensions had been invested by the BJP, leading government employees to demand the revival of the old pension scheme. She expressed that this is why Chhattisgarh currently has the old pension scheme in place. In contrast, she claimed that the Congress party has always advocated for the rights of the people and the return of their money. The rally was attended by Congress candidates Sangeeta Sinha from Sanjari Balod Legislative Assembly, Anila Bhedia from Doundilohara, and Kunwar Singh Nishad from Gundardehi. A large number of Congress supporters were present at the gathering.

Priyanka Gandhi’s address underlines the fierce political competition in Chhattisgarh and the emphasis on addressing the concerns and aspirations of the electorate in the state.
