Raipur: Condemning the incident of assaulting the panchayat representative by the sand mining mafia in Dhamtari district in Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday said that any kind of mafiaraaj will be tolerated in the state.

CM Baghel has said that the sand mafia sand or any other mafia will not be tolerated in the entire state.

He strongly chastised the act and further said that “Strict action will be taken against them if such cases come to notice.”

In view of the incident that took place in Dhamtari, Baghel ordered the police and district administration to take stern action against the said sand mining mafia, who assaulted the panchayat representative in Dhamtari district of the state.

A video of a panchayat representative and others assaulted by the sand mafia, went viral. It can be seen in the video that the sand mining mafia and his accomplices beaten up the district panchayat member, identified as Khublal Dhruv and others with a belt and stick.

Dhruv and others got a tip-off, regarding illegal sand mining in Magarlod region of Dhamtari district. When, Dhruv along with his five other counterparts went for inspection on Thursday, the sand mafia and his accomplices took them hostage and assaulted them too with belts and sticks till the wee hours of Friday.

On Friday, Dhruv and his counterparts managed to escape from the clutches of the sand mafia. They managed to reach Rudri police station in Dhamtari district and fell unconscious outside the police station. The cops took them to a local hospital, where they provided first-aid. Till the last report filed, the accused sand mafia and his accomplices could not be identified.
