Narayanpur: In a recent attack, one group of Naxal attacked and fired upon the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters. Nevertheless, through the speedy and appropriate apprehension by the security forces, one Naxalite was eliminated, and there are reports that several of the rebels sustained injuries.
Per police information about Naxal platoon no. 16 and the Indravati Area Committee in the Pallewaya-Handawada area of the Narayanpur and Bijapur district border, combined anti-Naxalite patrol parties were sent. Maoists said these three teams included the DRG personnel from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar and the fighters from Bastar Fighters and the Special Task Force (STV).
On May 24, while the police teams were coming back from the operation, the Naxalites, who were waiting for the respective team, started firing at the STF team. Through great acts of gallantry and good judgment, the STF personnel laid down their arms and responded to the attackers, repelling them adequately.
After both parties had fired shots, combing went on in the area to retrieve the situation. In the course of the search operation, the police came across the body of a Naxalite dressed in military fatigues who was shot dead in the encounter. Also, the weapons were recovered from the scene, meaning that the ambushers had prepared to take on whoever was in the vehicle or was planning to come in the same.
It also reflects the fact that security forces still face significant threats from Naxalite in the region and have to conduct joint operations. The operation of the DRG, Bastar fighters, and the STF, along with a proven focus on intelligence operations, depicts the strategies of the forces and their preparedness for imminent operations.
Such experiences call for people to be ever cautious given the enormity of the situation in the regions infested with Naxalites. This aspect was evident during the protests led by the Indravati Area Committee, exhibiting continuous Naxalite organization that necessitates constant force and preventive initiatives among security forces.
