Raipur: Three-time MLA Narayan Chandel is appointed as the new leader of opposition of the 14 member BJP party in Chhattisgarh. BJP Sec D Purandeshwari incharge of CG affairs announced the decision to appoint Chandel as the successor to Dharmalal Kaushik in the meeting held at party office in Kushabhau Thakre Parisar Boriyakala, Raipur.

The change in leadership came ahead of the assembly pollsin CG sechuled next year. The appointment of Chandel came days aftre the State party president was replaced. Arun Sao stepped in as the party chief replacing Vishnudeo Sai.

Interacting with the media, Narayan Chandel slammed the Congress Raj in the state and promised to take them down. Chandel started his political career in early 19th century. He was first electeed to the legistlative Assembly in 1998 followed by 2008 and 2018. At present he holds the post of BJP state Gen Secretary. He also represents the Jnjgir Champa constituency in Vidhan Sabha.

with the faces in the house, the BJP seems tohave taken the OBC caste factor into play. newly elected party president Arun Sao belongs to the prominent OBC Sahu Community while the new LoP belongs to the OBC Kurmi community. The party rejig decision is seen an indication that the saffron party might bet more on new faces in the nect assembly elections.
