Balod, Chhattisgarh: According to the latest update by AIIMS Raipur, a new COVID-19 positive case has been reported in the capital after a long gap of 9 days. A 23 year old male youth is said to be a labourer from Balod District and have a travel history. However, the hospital authorities stated that he will be brought & admitted to the hospital later today.

Taking it to their twitter handle, AIIMS Raipur confirms the news of One person found with covid_19 symptom in balod district.

Chhattisgarh has been consistently performing well as compared to the rest of the country and has been able to contain the virus with more than 93% recovery rate with no deaths. With the new case found, the total count of confirmed cases in the State has gone up to 60 with 4 active cases.

Korba district in the state has reported 28 cases, the highest in the state. The city Durg has detected 10 cases while Raipur has recorded 7 cases. There are 6 cases from Surajpur & Kawardha each, whereas Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon & now Balod district too have come to the list with 1 case each.

Meanwhile, the total number of cases in India has jump to 78,003, with the death toll surging to 2,549, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry. The current number of active cases is 49,219, while 26,234 patients have recovered and been discharged whereas Global positive cases cross 43.7 lakh and death toll over 2.9 lakh.
