Raipur: Chhattisgarh witnessed highest spike in daily coronavirus count with over 148 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, The state nears the bleak milestone of 1400 mark. The total number of coronavirus cases in Chhattisgarh has zoomed to 1397.

According to State Health Department, on Wednesday late night, 97 new cases of coronavirus were found. Earlier, 51 cases were recorded, taking the total tally to 148 in a single day which is the highest ever reported from the state.

Of 97 cases, 40 found in Bilaspur, 25 are from Korba, 7 cases each registered from Raigad & Mahasamund, 5 are from Raipur, 3 each from Durg & Rajnandgaon, 2 each cases are from Kawardha and Mungeli while 1 case each recorded from Sarguja, Surajpur, Behemetara district.

With this, the total number of corona infected in the state has rose to 1397. The number of active patients has increased to 982. So far, 401 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 6 people have died from Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, India has also witnessed its biggest surge in a single day with 9,996 cases recorded from all the states on Wednesday. This brings the total tally of the country to 2,86,5
