Maharashtra: The spread of novel coronavirus doesn’t seem to take back seat in India. Maharashtra continues to be the worst hit state nationwide. The state hits its biggest hike in fresh cases as well as deaths on Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra has detected 3,254 new coronavirus cases bringing the state’s total to 94,041 on Wednesday.

With 149 more deaths on Wednesday, the death toll has risen to 3,438 mentioned the state’s health department. The financial hub, Mumbai of all, reported 1,567 new cases, taking tally to 52,445 in the Metropolitan alone. 97 more deaths in the “Financial capital of India” took the city’s death toll to 1,855, BMC said.

With 1,879 more people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of recoveries reached 44,517, said the state’s health department. Recovery rate in the state is 47.34% while case fatality rate is at 3.65%.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra alone has more Coronavirus Cases than China and soon it will surpass canada’s overall tally.

Thane stands on second position in COVID-19 case list in Maharashtra by reporting 14,063 total cases with 8,489 active cases and 355 fatalities so far. While the mortality rate is at 3.6%, the recovery rate in the state is at 46.96%.

With an availability of 75,930 beds in quarantine institutions, currently 26,470 people are in there and 5,68,073 people are in home quarantine. Up until today, a total of 94,041 have tested positive (15.83%) out of 5,93,784 laboratory samples.

There are 3750 active containment zones in the state currently. Wherever, clusters of patients have been found in the state, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in those places as per the guidance from Government of India.
