CM Vishnu Deo Sai has welcomed the Central Government’s decision to set up a high-powered task force for the replacement of the National Testing Agency (NTA) examination system in the state. He welcomed the students’ worries and commended the efforts taken by the Centre for its efforts to tackle examination irregularities.
The government has seriously taken the matter of paper leaks and is trying to bring in more stringent legislation so that it never happens again, Sai said.
“The Central Government has shown concern for the youth. Strong laws are being introduced against paper leaks so that such incidents do not happen again,” the Chief Minister said.
Nandan Nilekani, a famous technology expert, will lead the multi-disciplinary task force that Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 26th July. This panel for the NTA examination process is created to make it transparent, secure and reliable.
Task force members are technology, education, security, space and logistical subject-matter experts. Amongst the members are ISRO Chairman S. Somanath, former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka, Director of IIT-Madras V. Kamakoti, former Education Secretary Anita Karwal, Amrit Lal Meena, a logistics expert.
The committee will make recommendations for structural and technological changes, aimed at improving the security of the examinations, preventing paper leaks, and building confidence among people in conducting competitive examinations, the Centre says.
According to Prime Minister Modi, recommendations of the task force will serve as guidelines to the government’s future endeavours in enhancing the credibility and transparency of the NTA examination system.
Chhattisgarh CM Sai also spoke about a two-day conference of the CEOs of District Panchayats held separately, to discuss on the rural development, infrastructure and improved implementation of government welfare programmes in the villages.
