The Chhattisgarh Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reviewed the need and decided to hire 36 persons for the vacant posts of constables in former Agniveers and change the name of the Adim Jati Vikas Department to Tribal Affairs Department at the Chief Minister’s office.
The first decision by the state government has approved the recruitment of former Agniveers against 36 available posts in the Home Department to gain their skills and experience in the military. Earlier, the government had made a rule for reserving 10 per cent quota for Category wise allocation for former Agniveers in these posts.
The Cabinet also accepted a proposal to make the name change from Adim Jati Vikas Department to the Tribal Affairs Department in the Chhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules.
Following the meeting, Sai not only explained the decisions taken by the group of senior leaders but also spoke with the journalists present about how the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had impacted the growth of Chhattisgarh. He mentioned experiments in governance recently started in Gujarat, like using technology for everything, communication freely etc. and administration that focussed on results when Modi was chief minister.
Sai stated that several practices have been instituted in the state to learn from these experiences such as dialogue-based governance and the Chintan Shivir tradition in Chhattisgarh. He also pointed out that the state had geo-referenced approximately 14,000 of the 20,000 villages using the PM Gati Shakti platform for project planning and monitoring.
The Chief Minister also talked about the investment climate, through the Ease of Doing Business Act, 2026, single-window clearance system and deemed approval in cases where decisions were made after specified time. He said over 450 administrative reforms had been carried out so far which had invited investment proposals of Rs 8.50 lakh crore with the potential to create more than 1,60,000 jobs.
Sai also spoke on digital governance initiatives such as Direct Benefit Transfer, UPI payments and distribution of 42 lakh farmer IDs under AgriStack and property records to 7.51 lakh under the drone-based SVAMITVA.
