Mumbai Indians bundled out Gujarat Giants at the inaugral match of WPL on Saturday. Saika Ishaque scalped four while Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt took two wickets each and secured posted 207 for 5. The Mumbai players outclassed GT for 64 runs to win the game by 143 runs. Earlier, Harmanpreet Kaur hit 65 runs off 30 balls while Amelia Kerr scored 45 not out off 24 balls as Mumbai Indians.

The Mumbai skipper scored the first half-century of the new league as her 30-ball 65 blitzkrieg powered her team to a massive victory.

Gujarat captain Mooney suffered an injury in the first over and retired hurt after initial checkup on the field, and could not return to bat again.

Harmanpreet smashed 14 fours and scored her runs at an impressive strike rate of 216.67. Hayley Matthews (47) and Amelia Kerr (45 not out) also contributed handsomely for the Mumbai franchise.

The opener started with Gujarat Giants winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Mumbai Indians then opened with West Indies captain Hayley Matthews & wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia. Bhatia took strike first and played out Ashleigh Gardner cautiously but Matthews was on song from the outset as she swung Mansi Joshi for a six off just the second ball she faced before hitting a four off the very next ball.
