Rishabh Pant is likely to be a recurrent figure at Delhi Capitals ahead of the upcoming season of IPL 2027, as they are on a major man transfer platform to introduce him in a match-winning combination with Lucknow Super Giants’ Kuldeep Yadav.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are nearing a conclusion on signing Pant back to Delhi Capitals (DC) where he started his IPL journey, sources said. In lieu of this, India spinner Kuldeep Yadav is expected to be a part of LSG.

However, Rishabh Pant hit an historic milestone during the last mega auction of IPL 2025, where LSG sold him to for INR 27 crore becoming the costliest IPL player ever. But, Lucknow low in the table following a lacklustre season at the IPL 2026 finished everything with a bang, so it seems both sides are willing to switch gears.

If the trade is successful, Pant would move to Delhi Capitals for a re-negotiated INR 15 crore contract. Meanwhile, Kuldeep, earning INR 13.25 crore currently, is expected to be shifted to Lucknow where he will be a league’s top bowler in India.

Both teams are in the process of completing formalities reportedly before the deal can be approved by the BCCI.

Since joining Delhi Capitals in 2022, Kuldeep has been a stalwart with 72 wickets, having contributed to the team’s success in the franchise. Kuldeep is one of the top performers for Delhi Capitals since joining, having taken 72 wickets in 65 matches. His move will also give him opportunity to play for an IPL team from his native state Uttar Pradesh.

Pant’s return would be one of the biggest homecomings in the history of IPL. The wicket-keeper batsman is also an iconic name for Delhi Captain and was the former captain of Delhi Capitals. Once approved, the trade is likely to be one of the most significant news headlines leading into IPL 2027, if that is the case.
