In an intense encounter at the Singapore Open on Sunday, Indian badminton sensation, PV Sindhu beats China’s Wang Zhi Yi in the women’s singles final. PV Sindhu won her maiden Singapore Open title and lifted the Super 500 trophy at the event. The Singapore Open finals were won by Sindhu 21-9 11-21 21-15 in a close encounter against China’s reigning Asian Championships Gold Medallist Wang Zhi. Earlier in this year, PV Sindhu also bagged two Super 300 crowns in Syed Modi International and Swiss Open.
PV Sindhu is already crowned with two Olympics medals, one at Rio and the other one came just two years back in 2020 at Tokyo Olympics. Besides Olympics, she has a fantastic track record of winning one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in various World Championships.
The Sunday encounter was a nail biting game where Sindhu sustained immense pressure at times and overcame handsomely to clinch the Singapore Open for the first time. Meanwhile, PV Sindhu has also been named to lead the Indian side at the Commonwealth Games starting from July 28th. The event is scheduled in Birmingham where teams from all over the world will participate in various events for their countries.
