Mumbai: MS Dhoni underwent surgery on his left knee yesterday evening. Dhoni who led Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL titles had flown to Ahmedabad after IPL 2023 finale on Monday and consulted renowned sports orthopedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is also on the BCCI medical panel.

The former captain of the Indian cricket team has been discharged from the hospital after arthroscopic repair. Sources reveal that he would take a rest at home for a few days before commencing an extensive rehabilitation program. The timeline allows optimism for his fitness and potential participation in next IPL season.

Throughout the season, Dhoni played with heavy strapping on his left knee. While his wicket-keeping skills remained unaffected, he often batted at a lower position, occasionally coming in as low as No.8. he had also hinted his possibility of retirement but has expressed the desire to work hard and play next season.

Confirming his surgery, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan stated, “Yes, Dhoni has had a successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. He is doing fine, and the surgery took place in the morning”.
