India’s pacer, Jasprit Bumrah earned the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December due to his excellent performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. This was the second time Bumrah would be able to lay his hands on the award after an extraordinary performance in the three Test matches in December.

Bumrah’s show on the day was outstanding, nothing less of it. In the three Tests in December, he managed to grab a total of 22 wickets with a better bowling average of 14.22. His expertise was seen at its best when leading India’s bowling charge against Australia in the second part of the series. Although it was reduced to 1-0 in favour of India, Bumrah once again rose from the occasion and led the Indian attack superbly.

This 31-year-old bowler set a record at Adelaide, taking 4 wickets after 61 runs, which helped the Indians to gain important moments in the game. Subsequently, as the series shifted base to Brisbane, Bumrah continued his rampage through the Australian batting lineup with sheer pace and accuracy. While bowling, he scored 6 wickets for 76 in the first innings and 3 wickets for 18 in the second innings, which made India the winner.

In the Boxing Day Test, Bumrah demonstrated great temperament by taking nine wickets at Melbourne, including the wickets of 5 for 57. His performance not only ensured India’s continuity but also served to endow him with a new record in rating points, exceeding any previous Indian bowler ever recorded in history and making him one of the world’s best fast bowlers.

The deliveries stemmed in the series and Bumrah’s consistencies and brilliance in the style helped him edge out other nominees like Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson to clinch the ICC Player of the Month Award for December.
